Abstract

Kajian ini menelusuri usaha inovatif Dr. Safwan (San Samid) dalam mengangkat seni seramik sebagai medium transformasi kreatif melalui penggunaan tanah terbiar berlandaskan Model Praktis Studio Seramik. Pendekatan beliau bukan sahaja menekankan aspek estetika dan teknikal dalam penghasilan karya seramik, tetapi juga menggabungkan nilai kelestarian, komuniti, dan pendidikan seni untuk generasi baharu. Studio Seramik San Samid berfungsi sebagai ruang eksperimen yang menyatukan tradisi kraf tempatan dengan teknologi moden, menghasilkan karya yang mencerminkan keseimbangan antara alam, warisan, dan inovasi. Melalui analisis proses kreatif, reka bentuk, serta impak sosial dan alam sekitar, kajian ini menyoroti bagaimana seramik boleh menjadi wadah pembaharuan seni serta pemangkin kesedaran terhadap penggunaan sumber lestari. Dapatan menunjukkan bahawa inisiatif ini bukan sekadar menghasilkan karya seni bernilai tinggi dan mampu memberi sentuhan baru dalam pengolahan tanah liat alternatif dalam pembentukan kreativiti artistik, tetapi turut memperkukuh peranan seni sebagai agen perubahan sosial dan inspirasi bagi generasi muda dalam meneruskan kesinambungan budaya tanah air.

This study explores the innovative efforts of Dr. Safwan (San Samid) in elevating ceramic art as a medium of creative transformation through the use of idle land, based on the Practical Ceramic Studio Model. His approach not only emphasizes aesthetic and technical aspects in ceramic production but also integrates values of sustainability, community engagement, and art education for the younger generation. The San Samid Ceramic Studio functions as an experimental space that unites local craft traditions with modern technology, producing works that reflect a balance between nature, heritage, and innovation. Through an analysis of the creative process, design, and social as well as environmental impact, this study highlights how ceramics can serve as a platform for artistic renewal and as a catalyst for raising awareness about sustainable resource use. The findings indicate that this initiative not only produces high-value artworks and introduces new possibilities in the manipulation of alternative clay for artistic creativity, but also strengthens the role of art as an agent of social change and as an inspiration for the younger generation to continue the cultural legacy of the nation.
